Last week I made up a couple of cushion covers for a custom order.

The fabrics chosen were Green Echino Glasses by Kokka (pictured above) and Domestic Diva Utensil Damask Red (which I forgot to photograph).

The Echino cotton/linen fabric was such a joy to sew with that I decided that we needed to make more cushions to sell at the Marky Markets last Sunday.

Unfortunately none of them sold at the market but they will all be available from our Coorparoo store from tomorrow.

We also made up a heap of 25mm fabric covered badges. We have used a variety of commercial and Voodoo Rabbit original fabrics and have covered the fabric with Matte Heat n Bond Iron-on Vinyl to help stop the fabric warping when it goes through the badge press.

Fabric Friday: Music

The following fabric is from my personal stash, I found it on a trip to Japan several years ago. I remember whan I first saw it that I was blown away, it was the most beautiful music themed fabric I had ever seen. My photo doesn't do it justice, the base cloth is a linen/cotton blend and the pattern is devine, like a master composer has composed directly onto the fabric. I have never been able to find its like back here in Australia.

It should come as no surprise that we have had to look back to Japan for music themed fabrics to stock in our shop and we have not been disappointed.

Trefle - Crowns Keys and Music by Kokka

Crowns, keys and music notes adorn this high quality cotton/linen belnd. The piano keyboard and stave of music run down each side of the selvedge with the crowns, keys and notes scattered inbetween.

Trefle - Sing a Song by Kokka

Cute cartoon animal choirs adorn this beautiful cotton/linen blend also from Trefle. A piano keyboard runs down each selvedge.

Tartan Regency Music by Cosmo Textiles

A classic red tartan pattern with regency crowns and music notes scattered accross it. Check out this awesome Tartan Regency Music Pencil Case created by redeem designs.

Fabric Friday: Ornament by Kokka

We are a *little* bit obsessed with rabbits. It is why we love Etsuro Echino Ornament from Kokka. The cute silhouttes of squirrels, horses and birds all individually framed by floral wreaths were just a bonus.

A small amount of this fabric can go a long way. You can use a single strip of the ornaments to create a beautiful embellishment on a skirt, bag or cushion or you can cut out the individual ornaments and use them to create patches on just about any project you can think of. It is a cotton / linen blend so it is a bit heavier than regular quilting cotton and it is truly lush. Perfect for bags, skirts, cushions, curtains & purses.

Another cool thing about this fabric is that it (and a number of others) are on sale until the end of month at our store.

Fabric Friday: A Little Bit Goth

At Voodoo Rabbit we like to think of ourselves as a "little bit goth" so when we were shopping for fabric in Japan we just had to get this beautiful print from Kokka. Gothic crosses and french style fleur de lys - a winning combination in our eyes!

It is a Cotton (45%) Linen (55%) blend and the heavy weight of the fabric would make it perfect for bag making or homewares. You could even use if for more structured garments like a skirt or a corset.

This fabric, designed by Etsuko Furuya for Kokka's Echino range is absolutely stunning. Her Cobweb design would have to be one of our all time favourites and it is the reason we decided to hunt down Kokka fabrics to include in our range.
