Bleeding Heart ♥'s Voodoo Rabbit

Yaaaaaaay! We have our Patchworked Pixel cushions for sale in a real shop! Last week, we took our cushions to Bleeding Heart and they are now on display.

The Bleeding Heart gift shop stocks a huge range of unique gifts and collectables from local Brisbane artisans such as My Organ Grinder, Up In Annies Room, Sybella, Liana Kabel, Jennifer's Gift and now us!

Below is our Space Invader cushions (made with Ky's Gingham Invaded fabric). They look so cool when they are lined up :D

Above are our Heart and our Skull cushions. The Heart cushion was seen by Bleeding Heart on Etsy and it is the reason why we are now stocked there!

Bleeding Heart Gallery can be found in the School of Arts building, 166 Ann Street, Brisbane and is open Monday - Friday, 7am - 5pm. There is a cafe too - so why not pop in for cuppa and check out all the handmade goodies while you are there!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Vickie from Jewelflyt for winning our giveaway over at MooBeeTees. Vickie has received a $20 gift voucher redeemable at our webshop.

Her favourite item from our shop is Ky's original design Gingham Invaded monochrome fabric.  Vickie suggested that she would give it to her younger sister to make pullip (doll) clothes with. Or maybe she'd keep it to make herself an awesome satchel.

My Creative Space

Here's a peek at my Creative Space (I've been following this blogger meme for a while now over at kootooyo and thought it was about time that I joined in).

Now that I am a full time Voodoo Rabbit, I've been concentrating on making more handmade items to sell in our Etsy store and at the upcoming Kustom Kraft markets.

I have been busy cutting out panels and sewing zippers to make new cushion cover designs. The first batch are made with my Gingham Invaded fabric collection that I have had digitally printed at Spoonflower. You can see some swatches of some other fabrics I am working on in the background.

While I am upstairs doing this, I am also baking up a batch of beads that Cloud & I made at a polymer clay workshop we attended last Wednesday night. Here they are fresh out of the oven:

Wishlist Wednesday

I thought it was high time for a Spoonflower digital fabric printing wishlist so I've gone through my favourites and picked a few to share with everyone today.

This super yummy fabric is by designer Danielle Hanson, check out more of her fabric designs here.

Sweet little robot fabric from Jackie at Wee Life, she has some coordinating fabrics available as well. I think this one would look good as a button up shirt or even as a dress.

Sewing themed tattoo fabric from Cynthia Frenette. Unfortunately her profile page seems to have gone missing so I can't provide a link but if you do a search for her name you will find a number of cool retro look designs.

Super cute halloween print from designer malien00, more of her designs can be found here. A number of which feature bunnies which is always nice to see.

Last but not least I really want to create another sleeveless button up shirt with lace up sides out of this fabric that I designed for the shop.

Full Time Bunny

Today was my first day as a full time Voodoo Rabbit after my forced retirement from the computer games industry. I can't say that I really miss the games industry that much, it could be very stressful at times and it just hasn't been in good shape since the economic crisis hit last year.

To celebrate my impending career change I decided it was finally time to purchase the sewing machine upgrade that I have been promising myself for the last few years. On Saturday Cloud and I popped into the local sewing machine shop and picked this little baby up.

It is a Janome Memory Craft 4900 and my first computerised sewing machine, which takes a bit of getting used to after only using mechanical ones since I was a kid. Case in point, you can crash this one, which I accomplished by swaping from a twin needle to a single needle and forgetting to change the setting. The machine gets confused and has a mini crash during which it will no longer swap from twin needle mode to single needle mode and hense the bobbin timing is no longer correct. Luckily Cloud is the kind of level headed person who reads manuals in this sort of crisis and we were able to reset the machine, disaster averted.

I will be using it to sew up a few items that will appear in the Etsy store in the next week or two.
