Funky Flamingo Fabric Friday

We are so excited that Pauline has finally finished her Fleur the Flamingo sewing pattern because we have been begging her to design a flamingo toy pattern all year :) While I was picking fabrics to make a shop sample we ended up having an argument over which fabrics to use. Craft and Sewing Show Giveaway

We will be at the 2012 Brisbane Craft and Sewing Show at the end of this week with Pauline from Funky Friends Factory. The show runs from the 22nd - 25th March so there is just enough time to squeeze in a fabulous give-away!!!!

Easter Charity Drive / Giveaway

Japan is a place that is very close to our heart so Ky & I have decided that we wanted to help the people affected by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami. We are also aware that there are still people suffering here in our own backyard of Queensland too and we don't want to forget them either.

To help out, we are offering up our very special Easter Bunny (made using a Funky Friends Factory pattern) and eggs to raise money for the Japanese Tsunami Appeal (run by the Red Cross) and also the Premier's Flood Appeal.

Thank you to everyone who left feedback it has been very helpful, the clear favourite was the grey range followed by the pink. Blue and green were neck and neck for third.

My Creative Space + giveaway

So it turns out that when it comes to being creative I can procrastinate with the best of them. Which is what I have been doing with the following range of fabric.

I actually received the final swatches for these fabric in early September and have been avoiding them ever since. The main issue is that there are 13 different prints so I have no idea which ones to get printed first or if the whole range is a bust and should be abandoned. 

Time for some external input, do you like these prints, if so  leave a comment telling me which colourways/designs would you like to see printed first. As an extra incentive, everyone who leaves a comment goes in the draw to win all 13 sample swatches (approx size: 8 x 8 inches). I will randomly pick a comment by random number generator next Friday 29th October.

Free Grug Pattern

Some of you may remember that earlier this year I blogged about this awesome Grug toy that Sue (a fellow ASG member) made for one of her grandchildren. Sue very kindly supplied me with the rough working pattern that she created to make Grug. Since then I have been faffing around trying to write up some instructions and create diagrams so that we can share this pattern with you all.

The pattern can be downloaded from here.

Before you jump in to make a Grug of your very own here are a few disclaimers:

• Grug is a copyrighted character so you cannot sell the complete toy or the pattern.
• The instructions (pages 1 - 4) are on A4 size pages and the pattern pieces (pages 5 - 7) are on A3 size pages.
• The difficulty level of this pattern would be for an intermediate to experienced sewer. I have made some assumptions of knowledge when writing the instructions.
• I have not personally tested this pattern (I hate using furry fabrics) so if someone would like to volunteer to pattern test it would be greatly appreciated.
• If you encounter any errors please let me know and I will update the pattern.
• Grug is just over 30cm tall when completed.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Vickie from Jewelflyt for winning our giveaway over at MooBeeTees. Vickie has received a $20 gift voucher redeemable at our webshop.

Her favourite item from our shop is Ky's original design Gingham Invaded monochrome fabric.  Vickie suggested that she would give it to her younger sister to make pullip (doll) clothes with. Or maybe she'd keep it to make herself an awesome satchel.

Gingham Invaded & The Tech Lover's Gift Guide on Etsy

Last Friday we were lucky enough to have our Gingham Invaded Space Invader Cushion Covers included in Etsy's Tech Lover's Holiday Gift Guide!

The spot was short lived (less than 24 hours) because we had somebody buy all three of the listed cushions in one transaction. We relisted, I tweeted the listing and then Etsy tweeted a link to our relisted cushions!

To top it off... Etsy then put them up on their Facebook Fan Page!

We've had over 1,000 views and 21 hearts on the relisting since Etsy tweeted and put it Facebook.

All I can say (other than "Thanks, Etsy!") is WOW!
